Sashiko Visible Mending with Tracy in Kalamazoo

In this class you will learn the basics of sashiko stitching to create several small stitched patches that you can use for visible mending on a favorite garment.

 You will bring whatever garment you would like to perform the visible mending on, and we will provide a kit and all necessary materials to complete this project. These materials include a tool kit with needles, sashiko thread, and a pre printed fabric sample. We will have assorted templates available for use or purchase during this class as well.

 This process works best on a garment that has little to no stretch, as the fabrics of the patches themselves do not stretch.

 Based on skill or speed, some students may not complete the project during the allotted time, but we will make sure that you have all skills necessary to complete the project at home if needed.

There is no prior sewing experience necessary for this class.

Age policy:

This class is open to students ages 14 and up. Younger students are also welcome as long as they are co-enrolled with an adult who is available to help them during class.

Class refund/rescheduling policy:

 If your schedule changes and you are no longer available to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. We will provide a full refund or transfer to a different class date up to 5 days ahead of the scheduled class. 4 No refunds or transfers are available for cancellations within 4 days of the class due to the difficulty of filling those seats at short notice.
